Steven J. Cahn is Professor of Music Theory at the University of Cincinnati, College- Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a pianist. His recent publication, “Schoenberg, Al- Kindī, and the Unbound Braid” (The Musical Quarterly, 2021), received an Outstanding Publication Award from the Society for Music Theory. A chapter on Schoenberg’s late works and last years has just been published in the Schoenberg Handbüch (J. B. Metzler Stuttgart). His research at the Arnold Schönberg Center (Vienna) in 2019 was supported by the Avenir Foundation. He has also published collaboratively on music in the areas of electrophysiology and cognitive neuropsychology.
