DIVERSITY, EQUITY,
INCLUSION and ACCESSIBILITY

At concertnova, we are deeply committed to advancing equity and ensuring that our stage, audience, and organization reflect the diversity of our society. We foster an inclusive creative process and audience experience by providing access and opportunities to underrepresented communities in classical music.

We believe that great art comes from diverse voices and perspectives. By showcasing artists from a wide range of backgrounds—across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socio-economic status—we celebrate the breadth of talent within the classical music world. Our intentional hiring practices are designed to bring to the stage performers who represent this broad spectrum, ensuring that our organization reflects the world in which we live. Yet, we also recognize that simply having representation on stage does not go far enough. We regularly give full creative control to collaborators from underrepresented communities, welcoming their voices to shape our programming, use of resources, and the stories told on our stages. By doing so, we emphasize that every person's story matters, not just in representation but in artistic leadership.

Beyond the stage, we recognize the importance of creating opportunities for engagement with as many communities as possible. By performing in venues across Cincinnati’s 52 neighborhoods, we aim to break down barriers and cultivate relationships with new audiences. Our programming is shaped by ongoing dialogue with the communities we serve, ensuring that the art we present resonates with a diverse and inclusive audience.

Our commitment to diversity extends beyond our artistic practices and into every aspect of our operations. We prioritize working with vendors, business partners, and service providers who share our values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. We actively seek to support businesses owned by individuals from historically marginalized groups, recognizing that true change requires investing in all facets of the community.

We understand that achieving true diversity and equity is an ongoing process, and we are dedicated to continuously evaluating and evolving our practices. Through our long-term efforts, we hope to create a classical music culture where every individual—regardless of their background—feels seen, heard, and valued.
